Social Network Data

Social Networks for Social Good DataVerse

I have curated and published three sociometric social network datasets that are available in the Social Networks for Social Good Dataverse.

Companionships, Transportation, and Health Among Members of a Hispanic Senior Center: A Sociometric Social Network Dataset

This dataset contains survey and social network data from 42 members of a predominantly Puerto Rican senior center in Hartford, Connecticut. It includes two linked components (1) participant-level information on demographics, health, mobility, and transportation, and (2) a sociometric network of companionship ties among members. The data are designed for use in social network analysis and research on aging, mobility, and social relationships. These data can be used to explore questions such as how companionship ties are structured among older adults in a community setting; whether individuals with similar characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health status) are more likely to form ties; and how transportation access and mobility are associated with social network position. Users should begin their review of the dataset by reading the Data Overview and README files. Publications from this dataset include:

Peer Relationships among Master of Social Work Students

This dataset contains data from longitudinal social network analysis research that collected survey data from one class of graduate students (N=142) in a Master of Social Work (MSW) program in a large U.S. public university. The program used cohort-based learning in the first semester after which students were integrated into the student body as a whole. The dataset contains network data about friendships, academic discussion ties, and professional influence among classmates. Student attribute data include archival data from the school (e.g., student demographics, incoming GPA, GRE scores) and survey items (e.g., sense of belonging scale, multicultural perspective, perceived stress). SEAL, Social Experiences in Assisted Living

This dataset contains data from a longitudinal social network analysis research project that collected survey data on three separate occasions over a 6-month period from residents in a single assisted living facility. It includes extensive pyschosocial and health survey data and social network survey data on acquaintance, companionship, social support, and negative interaction ties among residents of the assisted living facility. Publications from this dataset include:
